Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to announce ISHII Atsuo's solo exhibition for the first time in our galley. Ishii prefers to use travertine and bricks and makes free and humorous sculptures. He made metal sculptures early in his career, stone sculptures in the 1980s, and then started to use bricks in the 2000s. He cut a book A Concise History of Modern Sculpture by an art critic Herbert Read and mixed with mortar to glue bricks. Ring, disk or vessel shape sculptures were made out of those bricks. Ishii shows his strong will to trace the origin of sculpture in his works. Information Provided by: Galerie Tokyo Humanité Period: January 12,2021 (Tue) 〜 January 30,2021 (Sat) |
