Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to announce TANIKAWA Koichi's solo exhibition entitled Forest of Suiran. This exhibition will showcase approx. 15 paintings including new works. Tanikawa lives and works in Izu highlands in Shizuoka, Japan, where his studio is surrounded by rich nature and warm sunlight just as depicted in his paintings. Tanikawa (b. 1938) started his carrier as an artist in the 1960s when he exhibited his works in the Yomiuri Independent Exhibition. He participated avant garde art movements in Japan including Hi Red Center and Neo-Dada. His recent exhibition history includes a two-person exhibition of Tanikawa and his wife MIYASAKO Chizuru (1947-2008) In Praise of Sunlight: Koichi TANIKAWA and Chizuru MIYASAKO (2016, The Museum of Modern Art, Hayama in Kanagawa) and a retrospective exhibition KOICHI TANIKAWA - From Atelier in the Southern Garden (2011, Mitaka City Gallery of Art, Tokyo).
