‘A Map to find animals, Animals to Read a Map’ Kazuyoshi Sasaki creates animals using Japanese traditional papers folding them into shaped objects. He also uses many different techniques as water colour painting and copperplate printing. He freely meanders through the worlds of stories and fairytales and everyday life, and he focuses on our exposed faces as ‘animals’ living in this human society with a touch of humour. This time his theme is ‘A Map to find animals, Animals to read a Map’. His conscious part on his surface from his daily life and unconscious part from deep within both have different world expanding. Yet they come across at some points. Stories and fairytales he listened in his childhood have animals. These animals appear at these crossing points of conscious and unconscious, and they do play very important roles. A map to find animals. It is in fact the most fundamental task to know the path that his own spirit has been walking on.
